First Experience with Photoshop

In one lesson we were taught how to use photoshop, I had never had any experience with it before. After taking notes and going through them step-by-step, I was capable of manipulating photographs as appropriate to the context for presentation. I had to use this image:

After getting to terms with layers, resizing, warping, selecting and more - baring in mind this was within a very short time - this is the outcome:



I had to place the image onto the document, then delete the background from behind the woman using the selection tool. Then, I increased her size to fit the entire page, holding shift to keep the dimensions the same. I filled in the background contrasting the dark purple and light purple from the clothes she is wearing. The dark purple makes her face stand out more as she has pale skin. I put a quick and easy font onto the page, using one of my name ideas 'Wyke Weekly' and used it as a masthead.
